In the context of our ecological awareness, the company adopts best international environmental practices. Based on these, we strive to improve our environmental footprint by reducing plastic in as many packages as possible.
Drawing on the experience of our long-term supplier, we proceeded to change the cap with a new, lighter, and consequently more environmentally friendly version. However, the reduction of plastic in the lid adversely affected the internal threading, reducing its durability.
As our primary concern is maintaining the high level of food safety upheld by our company, we inform you that a failure was identified in the lids of OLYMPOS Super Spread products. Due to this failure, plastic “shavings” originating from the lid may be detected after repeated, forceful movements when opening or closing the package.
We would like to point out that this specific failure may only appear in Super Spread product packaging and concerns specific batches. The occurrence of the problem varies in frequency; in some packages there is no issue, while in others it becomes visible after repeated, forceful opening and closing movements.
In conclusion, to avoid even the slightest possibility of an issue, we call upon all consumers who have purchased or will purchase any of the following products with best-before dates between 10/04/2025 and 15/09/2025, to act as follows:

Avoid forceful movements when opening or closing the package. Instead, use gentle movements by rotating the cap counter-clockwise and/or clockwise respectively, without applying unnecessary pressure onto the neck of the jar.

Do not completely remove the protective aluminum foil after the first opening. Instead, remove part of it by peeling it back from the mouth of the jar, consume the desired amount of product, reposition the foil, and then close the jar as described above.
Products with best-before dates outside (before and after) the aforementioned period do not have a defect in the lid and can be handled as usual.
